MACOMB COUNTY -- A woman convicted of killing her two-year-old stepdaughter will spend the rest of her life in prison.
Renee King was sentenced in Macomb County Circuit Court Tuesday, after being convicted of murdering Lily Furneaux in February.
"It lifted a huge weight off our shoulders knowing the person responsible for her death is going away for life," said Lily's mother Lauren Furneaux.
King was also convicted of criminal sexual conduct and child abuse.
Investigators say Lily died of multiple blunt force blows to her head and also had a vaginal injury when she was found inside King's home in November of 2010.
During her trial, King claimed she had accidentally dropped Lily twice, causing her injuries.
