A long-time fixture at a Genesee County park celebrated 100 years this weekend.

Crossroads Village celebrated the 100th birthday for the C.W. Parker carousel.  The carousel was built in Kansas in 1912 and has a storied history.  It traveled to county fairs, carnivals and local celebrations through parts of the U.S. and Canada.

It spent about 30 years in Riverside, Calif., before coming to Crossroads Village in 1983.

"The parks, the Mott Foundation and the Friends of the Carousel have put a lot of work and love into it over the years, and all the horses have been recently repainted, so it looks actually brand new,” Crossroads Village Manager Garry Pringle said.

The carousel is open all summer Wednesday through Sunday.
