SAGINAW -- Saginaw police say officers shot and killed a knife-wielding man at a shopping center parking lot.

MLive reports officers responded Sunday to a report of a man with a knife at Riverview Plaza shopping center.

He was in his 50s, but his name wasn't immediately released.

No other injuries were reported. Details on what led officers to fire at the man weren't immediately released.

"I’ve seen this guy, never seen him bother anybody, I don't know what happen today,” said Willine Bridges-Hunt, who knows the victim.  "We’re already afraid of the criminals around here, I’d hate to be afraid of Saginaw police too."

Police say the man was shot multiple times and pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.
