SAGINAW -- The potential to have the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department take over police operations for the city of Saginaw is drawing protests from citizens.

Protesters carried signs reading "Keep Saginaw Police" and crowded into City Council chambers last night.

They gathered earlier in the day outside City Hall to protest a proposed contract between the city and Saginaw County for police services.

City Manager Darnell Earley says he received the sheriff's proposal, but must review it before details are released.
