FRANKENMUTH -- A special event is helping out a Navy veteran who is battling cancer.

A fundraiser was held Sunday in Frankenmuth for Joshua Gorman who is battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma and Hodgkins lymphoma.

More than 100 people from near and far came out Sunday to the American Legion post in Frankenmuth to honor and help out a local hero and his family.

"We just can't thank people enough for their outpouring of generosity towards our family and for my son in his condition we just want to say thank you very much" says Josh’s mother Beth Gorman.

"It's just really been a blessing to me to see how giving people are people that have never met me or the Gorman family and say I just want to give and help this family out. It's amazing" says event coordinator and friend Beau Beson.

The money raised will go to help the Gorman family with Josh's medical expenses.

Joshua has a wife and two children.
