DEARBORN -- What do you get when you combine the upcoming election with Halloween? Trick-or-Vote.

The nonpartisan volunteer effort comes to the Detroit suburb of Dearborn on Wednesday, when more than 100 volunteers in costume are expected to meet at the Arab American National Museum. From there, they plan to knock on 3,000 doors to distribute "know your rights" material in Arabic and English.

Volunteers will gather at the museum after the canvass for a party with music, a scary movie and snacks.

Organizers say the event is a way to encourage young people, new citizens and registered voters to participate in the democratic process and share the importance of voting on Nov. 6.

The event is sponsored by ACCESS, the museum's parent organization.

Trick-or-Vote started in 2004 in Portland, Ore.
