FLINT -- Firefighters in Flint were busy putting out fires Tuesday night, as law enforcement beefed up patrols the night before Halloween, dubbed Angel's Night.
Authorities said a group of kids is responsible for setting multiple fires in Flint Wednesday night.
In three hours firefighters battled six fires on the city's north side, each blaze just blocks from each other.
Fire crews put out a fire on the 200 block of E. Sherman Ave., near the intersection of Martin Luther King and E. Pierson Rd. Fire officials say it was a vacant home and suspect arson. Shortly before 11 p.m., they responded to another fire at 414 Mott Street, and shortly thereafter responded to reports of another fire near Saginaw St. and Hobson Ave. In the early hours of the morning, authorities also battled fires on Linden Ave., and later on Dakota Ave.
All of the buildings were vacant homes and there are no reports of injuries.
In the meantime, Flint Police Officer Tanya Meeks said about 50 volunteers had signed up to help patrol neighborhoods Tuesday night.
Angels night is nothing new for Flint. The city had eight fires in 2010 and six in 2011.
