Flint church holds get out the vote rally
A Flint pastor urged his congregation to get out the vote on Sunday. During his sermon and at a rally later in the day, Pastor Reginald Flynn of the Foss Avenue Baptist Church, told his followers they need to make sure they vote on Tuesday. Pastor Flynn didn't hide the fact he's voting for President Barack Obama and is urging others to do the same.
Since it's been estimated about one-third of Genesee County voters are using absentee ballots, rallies like this one may be a little too late for some. But they're designed to keep those who aren't using absentee ballots to stay engaged. Robo-calls, mailers and TV advertisements are trying to do the same thing. But it appears voters are growing tired of them.
Flint voter Diane Williams says she'll be happy when it's over. Grand Blanc voter Joe Novajosky says the same thing. He and his wife were voting absentee at the Grand Blanc Township office on Sunday. Joe told us he gets particularly upset when people call while he's eating dinner.
