SAGINAW -- Kenneth Bluew sat stoic and emotionless as he received his sentence for murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Jenny Webb, and his unborn son in August 2011.

Bluew was sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree premeditated murder, while he serves a second sentence of 65 to 100 years in prison for assaulting a pregnant individual intentionally causing a miscarriage or a stillbirth of a fetus or embryo.

Bluew was ordered to serve those sentences after serving two years for the two counts of possessing a firearm during commission of a felony.

“I've never in my 30-year career seen a case like this one," Saginaw Co. Circuit Court Judge Darnell Jackson said before handing down the sentences.

Jackson said even half the evidence presented during the trial would have been more than enough to convict the former Buena Vista Township police officer of what he called a cold-blooded crime.

Jenny Webb’s mother, Dawn Webb, addressed the court and Bluew.

“’An evil monster’ are the only words I can think of for you,” Webb told her daughter’s killer.

“So go to your cage and think about how you squeezed the life and breath out of my daughter and grandson and I hope it haunts you every day for the rest of your life,” she added.

“How do you heal from something like this?” Jenny Webb’s Father, Donald Webb, said after Monday’s hearing.  “You can't.  You can't lose a child like this and expect to ever get over it,” he said.

For Jenny Webb’s family, no words or hugs, even swift justice by the court, can speed the healing from these wounds.
