LIVONIA (AP) -- A suburban Detroit woman who died while rescuing her two grandsons from a house fire has been identified as 73-year-old Doris Wilson.

Seventy-six-year-old Alton Wilson of Wayne County's Redford Township tells the Free Press that the victim was his wife.

Livonia fire inspector Dan Lee says the fire started about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He says the woman was spending the night at her son's house, watching her grandsons.

He says the boys were sleeping in their bedrooms when she spotted the fire and alerted them.

Lee says the woman and younger teen were unable to get downstairs. Lee says she helped the boy climb out a window and onto a roof but couldn't follow.
