Today: Hi 55° | Low 30° Skies will be partly cloudy as a trough of low pressure moves closer to the area.

Thick fog in parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula is slowing down drivers and prompting warnings from weather officials.

The fog early Monday reduced visibility in some places to less than a quarter mile, prompting motorists to cut their speeds because of low visibility.

The fog was expected to dissipate by midday. The National Weather Service says motorists should slow down, use low headlight beams and allow more time for travel.

Fog also was seen in parts of the state Sunday morning. And forecasters say it could be a problem other days this week.
