CLINTON TWP., MI. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Detroit-area man has been charged in the rape of a teenager he met on the popular Internet networking site Facebook. Michael Thomas Robinson was arraigned Thursday on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of first-degree home invasion.

Police say the Eastpointe man had exchanged messages with the 16-year-old girl from nearby Clinton Township, about 15 miles northeast of Detroit.

Police say they met at least once at her home before the Dec. 4 attack when the girl refused to let Robinson in. He later went in through a window.

Robinson is being held on a $750,000 bond in the Macomb County Jail pending a Dec. 22 preliminary examination. He has asked for a court-appointed attorney.
