Senator John Gleason, from Flushing, is doing something nearly unheard of from a politician; he’s giving back more than $27,000.
Gleason says under his time in the Senate thousands of jobs have been lost. So, he’s making amends by giving back some of the money his office received. He says it’s only right to set the example for the Federal Government to follow. "I now feel that I have a clear conscience when on that senate floor and rail, and I will rail again that we must pass a stimulus package in the state of Michigan."
Gleason says his office is given $189,436 for expenses. He says that $61,359 was spent on office expenditures and on Tuesday he gave the State of Michigan more than $27,000 back.
