GREEN BAY, WI (AP) -- A Wisconsin utility is seeking regulatory permission to refund $5 million to its electric customers. Green Bay-based Wisconsin Public Service Corp. said Tuesday it filed the request with the state Public Service Commission.

The utility says the refund is necessary because of lower fuelcosts during the last half of 2008 and lower expenses to purchase power.

WPS says the refund for the typical residential customer will be about $3.36.

If approved by the PSC, the utility says the refunds will be made in the March and April bills.

The company serves nearly 430,000 electric customers in central and northeast Wisconsin and part of Upper Michigan.
