(AP) -- An auxiliary bishop from Philadelphia has been named the new Roman Catholic bishop of Saginaw.
Pope Benedict XVI announced Wednesday that Joseph R. Cistone will be installed as leader of the Diocese of Saginaw and its about 119,000 worshippers in July.
The 60-year-old Cistone is a Philadelphia native who was ordained as a priest in 1975. He was appointed an auxiliary bishop for Philadelphia in 2004.
Cistone succeeds Robert J. Carlson as leader of the Saginaw-area's Catholics. Carlson was named last month as archbishop in St. Louis.
