Detroit International Jazz Festival marks 30 years

(AP) -- The Detroit International Jazz Festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The festival kicks off Friday in downtown Detroit and runs through Monday. Featured performers are to include Hank Jones, the Clayton Brothers, Dave Brubeck and T.S. Monk, the son of Thelonious Monk.
Nightly jam sessions will be held at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The festival has been celebrating its anniversary since February with a series titled "Another Great Day in Detroit." That's included collaborations with the Charles H. Wright Museum of
African American History, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Wayne State University and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
