Crash leaves hundreds without power in Standish

ARENAC COUNTY -- Hundreds were without power after a car smashed into a utility pole in Arenac County.
The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department reports Derek James Cleveland Rose of Saginaw was driving on M-13 by Huron Rd. around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle rotated 108 degrees, flipped over on its roof, and then crashed into a utility pole.
Rose was taken to St. Mary’s hospital and then to Hurley Medical Center. He is being treated for a broken pelvis, skull fracture, and a broken nose.
Witnesses say several bottles of alcohol were found in the vehicle, and the suspect smelled of alcohol.
The crash caused nearly 500 Standish resident to be without power.
