GRAND BLANC -- The following is a message from Advanced Screening and Wellness of Grand Blanc:

Mid-Michigan residents can take control of their health and health costs during “Early Health Check-Up 2009.”  Advanced Screening and Wellness of Grand Blanc will provide free or low-cost health screenings at several locations this fall.  The purpose of this health event is to work for the common good by keeping these costs down and achieving “early health:” preventing disease through comprehensive education, identifying possible disease early enough to be able to positively impact the outcome and promoting health enhancing activities.  Health care can be affordable, comprehensive and within reach of everyone.

The free and/or low cost diversified tests and services to Mid-Michigan are medically practical and relevant to the needs of the community such as free height, weight, vision, blood pressure, body composition, counseling and referral along with health education and suggested alternatives to costly emergency room visits.  In addition, sufficient supply of flu vaccine is available as well as information for the public on the H1N1 vaccine, which is currently being rationed in Michigan.  The flu vaccine shot is available for $24.00.

Advanced Screening and Wellness President Jeff Ruff said, “Our health is our most important treasure.  ‘Early Health Check-Up 2009’ is our way to help Mid-Michigan families maintain their health through reliable lab tests that are free or low-cost.

“We’re holding health expositions at many different spots in our community.  We’re providing easy access and all our tests are confidential.  In addition to providing the results on the spot to the individual, we can also provide the results to his or her physician.”
