It has happened to all us at one time or another.  You're driving, out of no where a law enforcement car is right behind you with the sirens blaring, and you have to rush to get out of the way. Now the Bay County Sheriff's Department has enhanced the patrol cars so drivers hear and feel the emergency vehicle. .

The new tool, called the Howler, helps deputies get through traffic and to emergencies quicker safer.  It adapts onto the patrol car’s current sirens.

Here's how it works. An officer will turn the siren on.  If there's no reaction, they hit another button that sends vibrations into the road.  Drivers react immediately.

The Bay County Sheriff's Department has installed the Howler in all of the patrol cars, and we're told other public safety agencies in the area are looking into getting it also.
