The following is a message from U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin:

U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, both D-Mich., today announced millions of dollars in grants coming to Michigan to provide job seekers with training in clean energy industries.  The grants will provide extended education, training, job placement, and retention services to workers seeking jobs in clean energy industry-related fields.  The funds for this program were made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act under the U.S. Department of Labor’s Pathways Out of Poverty Program.

“We know that getting our economy back on track means our workers must be able to compete in the global race to manufacture clean energy technologies,” said Stabenow.  “These job training funds help give Michigan the competitive edge we need, which I why I included this program in my Green Jobs Initiative which passed in 2008, and pushed to include this funding in the Recovery Act.

“These millions of dollars of investment in Michigan’s economy will get people back to work in well-paying manufacturing and research jobs,” Levin said. “These grants are just part of many major initiatives that will ensure Michigan will continue its leadership in clean energy manufacturing.”
