Interested residents are invited to stop by anytime during one of two open house-style meetings Wednesday, Feb. 10, to view displays and learn more about proposed M-84 improvements in Bay County. Public input is sought to help MDOT recognize and address any concerns. Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) staff members will be available to answer questions.
The meetings will be held at Frankenlust Township Hall (2401 Delta Road in Bay City) and run from 2-4 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m.
MDOT is investing $51.3 million during 2010 and 2011 for road and bridge reconstruction work along M-84 and I-75 in Saginaw and Bay counties.Improvements on M-84 begin just south of Delta Road and extend north to M-13 (Euclid Avenue) through Frankenlust and Monitor townships in Bay County.
Work on M-84 includes pavement and utility work, widening and resurfacing, sign and signal upgrades, culvert replacements at the Columbia Drain and Dutch Creek, bridge replacement work over I-75, and a bridge replacement over Squaconning Creek.
MDOT will provide detailed public information before work begins regarding the proposed I-75 improvements, which begin just north of Crane Road and continue north to Hotchkiss Road through Kochville, Frankenlust and Monitor townships in Saginaw and Bay counties.
The purpose of the reconstruction work is to increase traffic safety and improve the overall condition of this highway.
Work begins in March and is expected to be completed by November 2011.
This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
