(AP) -- DETROIT - A winter storm is subsiding after dumping up to 10 inches of snow on some parts of Michigan and causing three deaths, leaving in its wake treacherous roads and more than 500 school closings. The slow-moving storm that began Tuesday is blamed for the deaths of a 35-year-old Ypsilanti woman who was killed after her car was broad-sided by a waste hauling truck on Interstate 94, about 30 miles southwest of Detroit.

Officials say weather conditions also were responsible for the death of 70-year-old Roberta Greene of Kalamazoo, who lost control of her car on southbound Interstate 75 in Bay County. Thirty-eight-year-old Candum Buckner was killed after losing control of his pickup on state Route 20 in Isabella County.

Wind gusts on Wednesday are expected to cause snow drifts and low visibility.
