As the temperatures drop, Carriage Town Ministries in Flint is seeing an increase in the number of people looking for shelter. Organizers say the shelter is normally half capacity but with all this snow, it’s taking its toll on MidMichigan residents.

Several staff members are on hand ready to take in the homeless and keep them out of the cold. Residents can stay at Carriage Town Ministries for up to 30 days if they follow the rules.

Carriage Town Ministries is currently able to offer 63 beds in the men’s mission and has capacity to offer more if the need arises. The family center can care for 35 women and children. Residents can attend the nightly chapel service, are provided with a meal, a hot shower, and comfortable bed out of the cold.
