(AP) -- A federal judge says he'll give additional instructions to jurors when they return for a fourth day of deliberations in the corruption trial of a political consultant who worked for Monica Conyers at the Detroit City Council. U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn sent jurors home early Wednesday. He says they're having trouble reaching a unanimous verdict in the case against Sam Riddle. The jury returns to court Thursday.

Riddle is charged with seven crimes. He's accused of conspiring with Conyers to extort bribes from people with business at city hall or Detroit's pension board when she was a councilwoman in 2006 and 2007.

Conyers, the wife of Detroit congressman John Conyers, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and resigned from office last summer.
