WAYNE COUNTY (AP) -- A sheriff's deputy and a court employee have received minor injuries during a brawl that started when a Detroit mother being sentenced for murder attacked a guard.

Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon says Tarranisha Davis became disruptive as Circuit Court Judge Daniel Ryan was sentencing her Thursday to 22 1/2 to 40 years in prison. Relatives then joined the fray.

Napoleon says the 35-year-old Davis had to be handcuffed. Three other people were arrested. Contempt of court charges are pending, while charges of assault on a police officer also may be filed.

Davis was convicted of murder after driving her 15-year-old son to a recreation center on Oct. 8 where he shot and killed a man.

Tremaine Davis got 10 to 25 years in prison.
