(AP) -- Emergency financial manager Robert Bobb will hold the first of nine town hall meetings in which parents can give him feedback on a plan to close 44 district schools in June. The fates of six schools will be discussed starting at 7 p.m. Monday at Henry Ford High School.

The meetings will run through April 19. Bobb has said he will make a final decision in late April. The closures are part of a five-year plan to shrink the district. Many of the schools on the closure list are aging and at less than half-capacity.

Enrollment continues to go down in Detroit. The district dropped below 100,000 students two years ago. Current full-time enrollment is about 87,000, but is expected to drop to 56,500 within five years.
