(AP) -- Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner Dennis Lennox has decided to run for an open seat in the Michigan House and drop a possible run against U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak. Lennox, a 25-year-old Republican, had criticized Stupak for voting for the Democratic health care bill. But he said Tuesday in a news release that he wants to serve in Lansing in the 105th District House seat because "the change we so desperately need in Washington will come from the states." At least two other Republicans are in the race.
Stupak, of Menominee, faces Connie Saltonstall of Charlevoix in the Democratic primary. Lennox endorsed one of several Republicans in the congressional race, Dan Benishek of Crystal Falls.
