On Wednesday, State Representative Lee Gonzales will announce his candidacy for the office of Genesee County Treasurer.  Prior to his work as State Representative, Gonzales served as Assistant Treasurer to then Genesee County Treasurer Dan Kildee for seven years (1997 to 2004).

The County Treasurer has an expansive set of duties:  investment of county funds, collection of delinquent property taxes, administration of delinquent tax borrowing program that benefits local school districts & other taxing units.  The Treasurer also serves as Chairman of the Genesee County Land Bank.  In his former position as Assistant Treasurer, Gonzales played an integral role in establishing this innovative program that works to return properties to productive use.

Gonzales will discuss his ideas on protecting property values and preventing foreclosures, which are key to the quality of life in GeneseeCounty.
