E-cigarette uses no smoke

Most Michigan establishments have been smoke-free since Saturday.
But NBC25 saw people puffing away inside the Fashion Square Mall in Saginaw.
They say it's less expensive than tobacco smoking and legal almost anywhere.
It looks just like smoking, but it's not. It's an electronic cigarette.
Inside, there's a vaporizer, battery and propylene glycol. It's the same stuff used on Broadway to simulate smoke. But rather, it's an odorless vapor.
The e-cigarette comes in nicotine and non-nicotine versions.
Sean Maxim, sales representative for Smart Choice E-Cigarette, says "When you inhale it, you get the sensation of smoking without getting all the bad chemicals that you would with regular tobacco cigarettes."
The product is by no means safe, says the company. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug, and the liquid version is dangerous.
However, it's contained inside a cartridge, which the company says is better than the 599 chemicals in tobacco cigarettes.
The most affordable kit sells for $45. The average one sells for $80, which includes two batteries, a charger, and 10 cartridges.
Maxim says, "This cartridge here is the equivalent of two packs of cigarettes."
The company says it's a cost-savings equaling about $2 a pack.
While you may use e-cigarettes in planes, restaurants and almost anywhere else, there's at least one place in MidMichigan you can't use them. Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw won't allow the e-cigarettes because they are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
