(AP) -- SALINE, Mich. - The National Weather Service has confirmed two funnel cloud touchdowns in the latest wave of severe storms to hit Michigan.

The thunderstorms that swept across southern Michigan on Wednesday night led to tornadoes that caused limited damage in rural areas of Washtenaw County near Saline and Monroe County near Milan.

CMS Energy Corp. spokeswoman Mary Gust says the storms blacked out 9,000 of its customers. DTE Energy Co. spokesman Len Singer says 10,000 of its customers lost power. Restoration work continues.

The severe weather followed storms Friday that blacked out 252,000 utility customers in southern lower Michigan and was responsible for at least one death.

A second storm Tuesday blacked out 34,000 homes and businesses.
