NOVI -- Authorities are investigating after a police chase ends with a 30 year old man shot to death.

The chase started in Novi Thursday night and ended in Southfield.

While police are releasing very little information at this time, witnesses say it looked like a scene from a movie as the suspect ran down the Lodge Freeway with police firing shots.  "He was running!” Gilbert Vaughn describes. “He was moving up the expressway and my God the shots began to ring out and there were so many shots. I could see them flying off the ground and I could see them flying off his body!"

Both the Novi and Southfield police have admitted to being involved in the chase and shooting. It is not yet clear whether the man was armed, or the reason for the chase.

The investigation has been turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
