Dr. Linsey Gold, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon, is proud to announce the grand opening of the Michigan Center for Breast Health, a state-of-the-art, patient-focused practice designed to meet the breast health, breast disease and breast cancer needs of men and women. Dr. Gold, Flint’s only surgeon dedicated solely to breast surgery, will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting at her new practice on Friday, October 1 at noon. The media, local dignitaries and some of her patients will be in attendance, light refreshments will be served and Dr. Gold will give brief remarks. Guests will be able to tour the Michigan Center for Breast Health as well, which is located at 2486 Nerredia Street, Suite A in Flint, Michigan.
Research shows that a patient’s initial surgery can have a dramatic effect on the outcome of his or her disease, and Dr. Gold, 36, is the only breast dedicated surgeon within a 60 mile radius of Flint. “There is a definite need here,” said Dr. Gold, who completed her fellowship at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland, under the guidance of Dr. Lorraine Tafra, a past president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. “This area had no one to give women what I am able to provide. Many breast cancer patients are cared for by general surgeons as opposed to a breast-dedicated surgeon like me.”
Dr. Gold, of West Bloomfield, knows that the less patients wait, the less they worry. Therefore, the Michigan Center for Breast Health has introduced an exclusive Rapid Response Program. This unique initiative allows patients to schedule same-day appointments for diagnostic imaging. In most cases, patients will have a complete diagnosis within 24 to 72 hours.
The Michigan Center for Breast Health is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and possesses a soothing, spa-like atmosphere. Instead of stark white walls and sterile waiting rooms, patients are greeted with warm colors, plush sofas and luxurious details, including chandeliers in the exam rooms. “I want patients to feel at home and at ease the moment they step inside,” explained Dr. Gold, who never dons a white doctor’s coat and has her patients call her by her first name. “My staff is compassionate and highly experienced. We fully understand how nervous patients are when they or a loved one has a new breast symptom and we do everything we can to reduce anxiety.”
In addition to the October 1 grand opening event, the Michigan Center for Breast Health will host informal open houses every Friday in October (Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The public is invited to take a tour, enjoy light refreshments, receive a welcome gift and meet the staff.
