(AP) -- HONDA RECALL:

Honda says nearly a half-million sedans and minivans in the United States are involved in this week's recall to fix brake fluid leaks. The action, announced earlier, involves the same issue that led Toyota to recall 1.5 million vehicles.

Honda says the recall affects 471,820 2005-2007 model year Acura RL sedans and Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2005 to early 2007 model year.

Honda says there have been no injuries or accidents tied to the problem. The Japanese automaker told the government that certain types of brake fluid could affect the seal on the brake's master cylinder and lead to a leak .If the leaks are left unattended, they could cause a spongy feeling in the brake pedal and adversely affect brake performance.

TOYOTA RECALL:

Toyota is recalling more than 1.5 million cars because of brake master cylinder seal and fuel pump problems.

Models recalled in the U.S. include the Lexus RX-330, GS-300, IS-250 and IS-350 as well as 2005 and 2006 Toyota Avalons and 2004 through 2006 non-hybrid Highlanders.

A Toyota spokesman said cars subject to the repairs were sold worldwide. No accidents have been reported from the defects. Toyota says there is a possibility some of the brake fluid could leak from the cylinder and cause the brake warning lamp to light up. The world's biggest automaker has been under scrutiny for the past year after it recalled millions of cars for a variety of problems.

FORD RECALL:

The government is urging owners of recalled Ford Motor Co. vehicles linked to engine fires to be sure to get them fixed.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says about 17.5 million Ford vehicles have been involved in recalls since 1999 because of faulty cruise control switches. The switches can overheat and lead to a fire.

The government says only about 40 percent of the vehicles covered by the recall have been repaired. Typically, 70 percent of recalled vehicles get fixed in 18 months.

Ford's recalls have covered several vehicle models, including the popular F-Series pickup truck from the 1993-2003 model year, the 1995-2002 Explorer and the 1995-2003 Windstar van.

The government issued a similar consumer advisory in February 2008.
