MERRILL -- A gas station robber is behind bars thanks to the quick thinking of the store clerk.
47 year old Felicia Leddy went into the Sonoco Gas Station on Saginaw Street in Merrill around 3:35 am on October 26th.
She picked up a bag of candy, took it to the register, and then demanded the 19 year old cashier to give her money out of the register. The cashier says the woman held something up under her shirt that appeared to be a gun.
The cashier didn’t move, so Leddy reached across the counter and attempted to steal money out of the drawer. The victim slammed Leddy's hands into the drawer, ran into a back room, and called 911.
When the robbery suspect got her hand free, she tried to pry open the drawer with an ink pen but couldn't. So, she ran off with the candy. A driver was waiting outside in the passenger seat of a car for Leddy. Authorities don’t believe the passenger was aware of the crime.
The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department was able to track down the suspect and arrest her at 1:40 pm. They learned Leddy was planning on stealing the money to buy cocaine.
