October's Great Kid of the Month is 12 year old Destiny Franklin of Midland.
She doesn't live the average lifestyle of a young girl. Destiny spends her day to day life helping care for her 8 year old brother Matthew who is living with extensive brain damage, respiratory problems and cerebral palsy.
Sarah Nordan, Destiny's mother says Destiny knows how to care for her brother just as well as she does.
"I do his vent, his feeding bag and his medicine which he takes at certain times," Destiny said. "I read to him and change his diaper too."
But aside from caring for her brother, Destiny helps her mother with chores around the house.
"I do chores, I do laundry, trash, dinner and I clean rooms," she said.
Destiny's passion for helping others doesn't stop at home.
"Last weekend I helped my neighbor rake leafs because he can't do it because of his bad back," Destiny said.
She's a little girl with a lot of love to give, especially to her younger brother.
As NBC25's Great Kid of the Month, Mackenzie wins a one night stay and four pack of passes to enjoy Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain.
