BAY CITY -- The U.S. Coast Guard is on the scene of a fuel spill in the Saginaw River in Bay City.

Late Sunday night or early Monday Morning, the Ann Marie Tug Boat sank into the Saginaw River, spilling 800 gallons of diesel fuel.

The Coast Guard tells NBC25, the source of the spill has been contained by plugging all of the fuel vents.  So far, about 350 gallons have been recovered.

Booms have been placed around the source, and the Coast Guard and Vessel owner are on the scene working to devise a salvage plan. The Coast Guard says much of the fuel has been trapped between ice and the river wall.

Fortunately, the 65 foot tug boat had been laid up for the winter and no one was onboard when it sank.
