For most of us, the garage is just a place where we park cars or store things we don't want to trip over in our living space.

if you're like most homeowners, your garage is the biggest uninsulated area of your home and it can be the prime area where heat can escape. Not properly insulating your garage can increase your heating and cooling costs.

Short of insulating the entire space, which can be a costly proposition, the next best idea is to have an insulated garage door. There are two types of material you can choose from.

The first is polyurethane, which is foam that is sprayed between the exterior and interior panels of the door. when used. The bonding foam expands and fills every gap where air might escape.

Or, you can use polystyrene, which resembles packing material that is glued into place between the panels.

In cold weather climates like Mid-Michigan, having an insulated door can reduce the amount of cold air that creeps in and can help keep your heating costs from creeping up every winter.
