Throughout February, Kevin Usealman and photojournalist Brett Dickie will be bringing you stories from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

They traveled nearly 1,000 miles in four days. Here is the first leg of their journey.

They were determined to find the industry that makes the Upper Peninsula tick. First, they made one last stop in Mackinaw City to bid goodbye to the mitten.

Escanaba was their first stop. Saklly's, a 100-year-old candy maker with a history as rich as some of their chocolate was their first stop. Watch it Wednesday night on NBC25.
