An elderly man is dead after his mobile home catches on fire.

It happened around 10pm Monday at the Villa Estates Mobile Home Park on Camelot Drive off Torrey Road in Flint Township near Bishop International Airport.

Eighty-one year old Floyd Anibal died inside his trailer.

Fire officials say a portable light was misused and caused the fire. They say the owner used one side of the trailer for a workshop.

They say the man heard a smoke detector and tried to get out but was overcome by the smoke.

Neighbors say he was a friendly man who helped them by clearing their walks of snow.
