Slick roads wreak havoc on mid-Michigan

Icy roads Friday morning have caused more than 20 accidents in Genesee County, according to Central Dispatch, along with road closures and a few school closings.

I-475 northbound at Hill Road has been blocked by police and I-475 southbound is also being shut down because of an accident.

A rollover accident at Genesee and Lapeer roads caused a driver to be trapped, but not injured. Another vehicle on eastbound I-69 near Duffield Road rolled several times, causing a driver to be trapped That driver refused treatment. Many other accidents were pouring in through scanner traffic.

Bay County Central Dispatch is also reporting a multiple vehicle accident on northbound I-75 at M-84.

Fenton, Lake Fenton, Goodrich and Linden schools were closed today. Byron schools were delayed two hours.

NBC25 Meteorologist Kevin Usealman said most of the freezing rain will occur this morning. South of I-69, the freezing rain should end around 10 a.m.

North of M-46, the freezing rain could be an issue for a while as the bulk of the wintry mix still hasn't hit the area. Temperatures won't cooperate either as they will remain below freezing until this afternoon.
