Man holds up traffic with a weapon, tries to break into elementary school

KINGSTON -- Update: March 29th, 3:25 p.m.

The Tuscola County Sheriff's Department has identified the suspect in this incident as Jonathan Knox.  He has been charged with one count of having a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent (which is a five year felony), trespassing, indecent explosure, and disorderly conduct. 

Bond has been set at $15,000.


Kingston man was arrested Monday after holding a weapon up in the middle of the road and blocking traffic.  A Kingston Elementary school bus carrying 61 kids was caught in the incident.

It happened around 3:00 p.m. in the Village of Kingston.  The 28 year old man held up traffic, and then headed to the elementary school. The school immediately went on lockdown, and the man tried to break in through the doors using a “breaker bar.” 

The Tuscola County Sheriff says deputies were able to arrest the man, and lodge him in the Tuscola County Jail.

Investigators believe the man may have been intoxicated.  Charges are pending in this case.
