President Obama provides birth certificate. Was this important or a waste of time?

Donald Trump has issued a statement regarding the President's presentation of his birth certificate. Watch his statement below:

 

On national television, President Barack Obama revealed his birth certificate.  This comes on the heels of Donald Trump’s questioning of the president’s legality on ABC’s The View.  You can watch a youtube video from that episode below.

Since President Obama took office, rumors have circulated that he was not born in the United States, and therefore should not be able to hold the office.

During the NBC special news report, President Obama called the discussion “silliness,” and stated that the nation has more important things to worry about.

The birth certificate indicates that President Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
