FLINT -- General Motors may invest more money in the Flint area, and bring about 50 more jobs.
According to the Associated Press, the $417 million investment would transform the desolated brownfield land off of Van Slyke road in Flint into a paint facility for the Flint Assembly Plant.
GM Spokesman, Tom Wickham, told NBC25 in a written statement, that, “ … an application has been submitted as the company explores potential business opportunities in Flint. The decision to go forward with any project is dependent upon a number of factors, including a sound business case that contemplates incentive support. GM is making no announcement as this time.”
Wickham also tells NBC25 that in February, GM and UAW leaders told employees about the possibility of the paint pretreatment plant.
This announcement comes on the heels of another major GM announcement last week. The Detroit-Based automaker plans on adding about 100 jobs total to the Bay City Powertrain and Flint Engine Operations as part of a nation-wide strategy to boost American plants.
Do you think General Motors is finally cleaning up the abandoned plants and job loss, and focusing on the American people?
