DETROIT -- Governor Rick Snyder says Michigan doesn’t need an immigration enforcement law like Arizona.

The Associated Press reports the Republican leader made the statement to members of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Thursday in Detroit. He said the law would, “encourage a divisive atmosphere."

NBC25’s sister station, WILX TV, reported earlier this month that Gov. Snyder “embraces immigration as a way to repopulate Michigan as part of a larger plan to spur economic development.”

According to the AP, a bill has been introduced that would get police to check immigration status more often during routine traffic stops.

How do you feel about this? Should Michigan have strict immigration laws, or does that prevent economic growth?
