The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, otherwise known as NOAA, has a weather radio with many features to keep you and your family safe during severe weather and other natural disastors.
The radio plugs into any outlet, but it does need batteries in case of a loss of power. The newest radios have come along way with technology. There are new imputs for strobe lights to keep the hearing impaired aware. This new technology also blocks many unwanted watches or warnings that to many were considered "annoying". The new weather radios allow you to program the specific counties in which you would like alerts for.
Interestingly enough, one of the transmitters that covers a good portion of mid-Michigan is located on our tower in the backyard of the NBC 25 station.
NBC 25 has teamed up with ABC Warehouse to help you set up your weather radio, and they are available at a promotional price through the end of the storm season.
