Michigan State University is trying to convince state lawmakers that they’re in guidelines with a tuition limit, but state officials believe otherwise.
The Associated Press reports University officials told a House committee Thursday that they’ve calculated their tuition increase for next year at 6.9, which is under the state’s 7.1% limit.
However, according to the A.P., the House Fiscal Agency calculates MSU’s tuition increase at 9.4%.
If the university goes over the limit, the state will cut $18 million in state aid.
We want to hear your feedback. What do you think should happen if universities/colleges go over the state’s tuition limits?
