A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the following counties until 2 a.m.: Midland, Saginaw, Shiawassee, and Genesee. We are located on the northeast corner of the watch area, which extends southwestward into the rest of Southwest Lower Michigan. The most unstable part of the atmosphere is to our southwest, so the greatest chance of severe weather will be from Grand Rapids to Northern Indiana and the Chicago area. A line of severe storms over Lake Michigan is moving southeast, and should miss Mid-Michigan. The storms that move through our area could produce isolated wind gusts up to 60 mph, and isolated hail. If you are travelling toward Chicago expect the storms to be more severe. You can check the
radar
