RAPID CITY, SD -- Officer Ryan McCandless will be buried in his hometown of Midland.

His funeral is Sunday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in South Dakota at 2:00 p.m.

Officer Ryan McCandless, a former Midland police officer, was shot and killed Tuesday during a shooting spree in South Dakota Tuesday.

Officer McCandless and at least two other officers responded to routine stop, and approached the group of four people. Not long after the officers' arrival, one of the suspects began open firing. Officer McCandless was hit and killed.  Two other officers and the suspect were injured during the shootings.

McCandless was a Midland Dow High School graduate. Friends and Family in the Mid-Michigan area remember him as a "great kid."
