CLIO -- Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, the Benson family of Clio was finally able to write the final chapter of their emotional reunion with their pet maltese Ceasar.

Ceasar completed the final leg of his journey home from New Mexico, 14 months after disappearing following a deadly car accident that claimed the life of Monica Benson's husband and one of her daughters.

"I'm so grateful and thankful to everyone who took the time to love a dog," said Monica.

A member of the Tucumcari Animal Rescue Group in New Mexico found the missing family pet earlier this month  Ceasar had a microchip, and the rescue worker was able to trace it back to the Benson family in Clio.

After some investigating, she was able to find the family’s contact information.

Ceasar traveled from New Mexico to Oklahoma, then on to Kansas City, Missouri. From there, he was shuttled between eleven different drivers before arriving in Clio Saturday night.
