Both the Michigan Senate and House have approved a plan that requires many government and school employees to pay more for their health care.
Businessweek.com reports, “the measure is aimed at brining the cost of public employee health care benefits more in line with those paid by employees in the private sector.”
According to the Associated Press, the measure caps an employee’s health care coverage by the employer at $5,500 and $15,000 for a family. Local governments could force employees to pay 20% of their coverage.
The plan could soon go to Governor Rick Snyder for approval.
